X-Alted browser extension for Chrome and Firefox. Last updated October 9, 2026.

What stays on your device

• Your settings are kept in your browser's storage for extensions. If you have turned on sync in your browser, the browser copies them to your Google or Mozilla account, as it does for every extension. We never see them.
• Your own background pictures, the last volume you used and similar small things are kept only in this browser.
• Screenshots, saved photos and saved GIFs go straight to your computer (or your clipboard). Saving a photo or a GIF downloads it from X's own servers, the same place your browser already loaded it from.
• Settings files you save with "Backup & restore" are written to your computer, where you choose.

What X-Alted does on x.com

X-Alted works inside the x.com page to add its controls, change the page's look, and hide the boxes you choose. It does not read, keep or send your posts, messages, account details or browsing history anywhere. It never posts, likes, follows or does anything on your account by itself.

Optional: GIFs and memes from KLIPY

Off after install. Once you turn it on in the settings and open the panel in X's post box, X-Alted asks KLIPY for GIFs and memes. KLIPY then receives:

• the words you search for, and which GIF or meme you pick;
• a two-letter country taken from your browser's language (for example "us"), for local results;
• a random code made on your device the first time you open the panel. It is not linked to you, your X account or anything else; KLIPY asks for it to count users and improve results;
• your IP address, as any website you load something from does.

What KLIPY does with this is covered by KLIPY's privacy policy. A GIF or meme you pick is added to your post only if you then post it, the same as one you add yourself. Turn the setting off and nothing more is sent.

Optional: videos from other sites

Off after install. To put X-Alted's controls on YouTube and other players shown inside posts, the extension needs your permission to run on other sites. When you turn this on, your browser asks you. X-Alted then acts only inside players that sit within an x.com page, and reads nothing else from any site. You can turn it off, or take the permission back in your browser, at any time.

Links that open other sites

The settings page and the toolbar menu have a few links: this website, our email address, a "Support this extension" tip jar and "You may also like" (Pinako, another extension by the same maker). They only open a new tab when you click them. Tips are paid on Stripe's page; Stripe handles your payment details under Stripe's privacy policy, and we receive only what Stripe gives every seller (the amount, and your name and email if you enter them), used only for the payment.

Permissions, and why

• Access to x.com and twitter.com: to add X-Alted's features to those pages.
• Storage: to keep your settings.
• Scripting: to start X-Alted in x.com tabs that were already open when it was installed or updated, and to add the video controls to players from other sites, only if you allow that.
• Access to all sites (optional, asked only when you turn on "videos from other sites"): see above.
• Downloads (Firefox only, optional, asked only when you turn on "Ask where to save"): to show Firefox's "Save as" window for screenshots and saved files.

Sharing and selling

We collect no personal data, so we have nothing to sell, share or hand over. X-Alted's use of data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

This website

x-alted.com uses no cookies, no analytics and no outside fonts or scripts. Like any web host, ours keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the time of a visit) for security.

Changes

If X-Alted ever needs to send anything new, this page will say so first, with a new date at the top.
